Templeogue's 24 Hour charity tennis marathon kicked off at 8 pm Friday evening 23rd August and as promise a brilliant night of tennis, entertainment and food over the 24 hours was enjoyed.
On court at 8pm, we started the marathon with a tennis exhibition featuring former Davis Cup players James Cluskey and Colin O'Brien, and some of Templeogue's finest.
Then, in the bar, we were lucky to have one of the star acts of RTÉ's Fleadh coverage last week. Uisneach (Breifne Holohan & Trudy Maguire)closed out John Creedon's show last Friday night and will provide a wonderful and unique blend of vocals, guitar and accordion.
Also in the bar, we had a mini joker draw with half the proceeds going to our three chosen charities (Peter McVerry Trust, Barretstown & Crumlin CMRF).
And through the evening, you can enjoy a sumptuous barbecue with beef, chicken, salads and desserts. Again, all the proceeds from the food went to our chosen charities.
The Marathon was an amazing success - all ages and groups got involved.
A huge thank you and massive well done to all the organisers, it was a brilliant event with lots of tennis all through the 24 hours for three very worthy causes.
The cakes, food and refreshments was overflowing so a huge thank you to all that played their part in this especially the social committee.
The young juniors played their part between 1pm to 4pm on Saturday with Fun Tennis - a very big thank you to the coaching assistants and teen volunteers for putting this on for our juniors.
It was great to see so many of our members down in the club throughout the 24 hour marathon supporting all the members organising and playing over the 24 hours.
Here's to the next TTC event !
